The Creepshow
They All Fall Down
Hellcat Records
They All Fall Down is the third album of genre-bending The Creepshow. Already having proven itself as a band with substance and character, the combined solid, “standout” musicianship of the boys and the crystal vocals of the fiery yet downright tiny lead singer, Sarah Sin, serve to make these must-have songs.
Their music, self-described as a blend of country-tinged, psycho punk rock n’ roll, has been well-received, earning them a trip to over 25 countries where they have shared the stage with Rancid, Tiger Army, The Unseen, Agnostic Front, Mad Sin, and Demented Are Go.
“Get What’s Coming” hits you like a wall of sound and explodes, striking you with sharp shards of melodious shrapnel, giving you a taste of what’s to come. Next up, “Someday” is equally fast and fat with bold character, sound and fury. If music could bruise, I’d be on the way to the hospital.
But both songs are merely a warm up for “They All Fall Down,” best described as a fully-loaded musical freight train screaming up and down roller coaster tracks at breakneck speeds.
“Sleep Tight” slows things down to a sweet ballad sung by a woman killed by her lover. She tells him to sleep tight as she watches with undead eyes.
Although the band offers up a lot of what it has always done - crazy fast and clever music - there is a change. What was good is now great. What was overdone in earlier albums has been tightened up.
“I think we sound relatively the same,” the Reverend McGinty said in a recent interview with Fazer magazine, “but we have become a little more mature and better at our song writing and certainly better at performing.”
The Creepshow: Sarah “SIN” Blackwood (guitar/vox), Sean “Sick Boy” McNab (stand-up bass/vox), The Reverend McGinty (sermons/organ/vox) and Matt “Pomade” Gee on drums).
